Are you spinning your wheels, nagging your child, struggling with meltdowns, and completely frustrated with your child’s behavior? Do you crave a more peaceful, easy and structured household?
Are you wishing for someone to tell you what to do?
Parent Training can help you gain clarity, communicate more effectively and strengthen connections with your children. It can provide you with specific systems, structures, and supports for your home and ultimately help you feel less incompetent, lonely and confused.
Parenting a challenging child can be extremely overwhelming. They experience life differently. It might be exhausting; even frustrating; but it’s not wrong or right. Often times parents don’t know where to turn, what resources are available, or who to contact to help them figure out what the best course of action may be for their child. This is where I step in and guide you, provide resources, and expert knowledge to help you better support your child…and you.
I work with you step-by-step to ensure your child receives all the necessary and available support they need in order to progress. Our one-on-one sessions are customized specifically for you and your situation. We address all of your current concerns, struggles, and challenges. Examples of support include:
Developing systems and structures in the home to promote your child’s independence.
Creating a road map for a newly diagnosed child for home and school.
Providing educational tools and resources to help parents teach their children organization and time management skills.
Working together with your school system to ensure your child receives the necessary services and support they qualify for.
Teaching you proper communication skills to parent a “challenging” child.
Creating a plan for maintaining a parent’s sense of calmness and peace throughout this learning process.
Think of it like this. You have me on speed dial when you need me. For some parents, that means weekly sessions to consistently work through goals and identifying action steps together. For others, it’s simply one or two calls to create a master plan and then you are off to the races. It is completely up to you as to how much and how often we meet to discuss your goals. This process is customized to your needs as a parent.
Our first session will focus on creating both long and short-term goals. We will then create an organized and detailed plan to help you reach those goals. At the end of a session you will leave with a list of action items. I follow up with an email summary of what we discussed (this way you don’t have to worry or stress about taking notes during our conversation) and an outline of the next steps. Depending on your needs, we can set up our next session, or if you prefer you can work on what we discussed, and contact me later on when you feel like you need more guidance.
Our initial assessment and goal setting session will be charged at a flat rate. If you decide you would like weekly sessions, we can arrange for a monthly payment. Otherwise, all sessions will be billed at an hourly rate and can be paid as we go.
“My daughter started weeping at 10PM on a Sunday night and I used your “parade of miserables” idea to calm her down and walk her backwards through the issue (and through many twists and turns) until I got to the crux of the matter. In the past, I would’ve been completely flummoxed and instead I was empowered with the right tool to be there to support her. Thank you again for all that you do!”
