LESLIE LIKES: 4 Study Apps for ADHD & Executive Functioning Studen
It's back-to-school season, and our EF student coaches have been knee-deep in getting ready — which means a lot of time testing and talking about the tools that actually help ADHD and executive functioning brains. Finding the right one isn't about downloading every app that promises to fix focus or study skills, but about matching the tool to the brain using it. These four each solve a different EF challenge, whether that's where to put a note, what to study tonight, or how to stop a five-minute scroll from eating an hour. Here's what each one actually does well.
CollaNote
Not every student's brain organizes the same way, and CollaNote doesn't force one. It's a notebook, planner, and study space in one, but built for the brain in front of you. You can handwrite it, type it, sketch it - whatever actually sticks. The flashcards can hold images and audio, not just text, and the built-in AI handles the summarizing and highlighting that keeps a lot of students from ever starting. With so many features, CollaNote helps students find the tools that work best for their brains and puts them in one place.
Twos
Twos is like giving your brain a digital landing pad. Every time a student must decide where something goes before they're allowed to write it down, that's a decision that can stall the whole thing. The beauty of Twos is that everything just goes in, no sorting required up front. It gets organized after the fact into lists, reminders, and tags, and anything left unfinished rolls to tomorrow instead of vanishing.
Another great feature is the calendar integration with Google, Apple, and Outlook calendars. This helps students see their other commitments alongside homework, exams, and schoolwork. The newer Twos also includes time blocking, widgets, Apple Reminders integration, and an AI assistant that can answer questions and summarize what you've written down.
Mochi
Nobody should have to decide what to study every night because that's a decision most kids will avoid until it's too late. The beauty of Mochi is that it decides for them. It tracks what's actually sticking and brings the material they’re unsure about back more often, while the stuff they know like the back of their hand fades out. That's what spaced repetition is for- to take the guesswork out of the process so studying isn't a nightly negotiation. Amen to that!
Snowscroll
Snowscroll is less of an organization app and more of an attention-management tool that takes a different approach to managing digital distractions. It doesn't block the apps; it just removes the endless scroll built into them. No Reels, no Shorts, no infinite "For You" page. Messages, search, and posts from people they follow still work just fine; it’s that trapdoor that is gone. It's a small environment change that does the work willpower just doesn’t.
