The Now Normal

I Am Simply Writing This to Check in With All Of You.

It’s been a year. A year that tested us like no other. And still continues to do so. And I think for years we will be asking each other “where were you when the world shut down?”

For me? I remember March 12th, 2020 like it was yesterday.

+ My son was home from College for Spring Break. As a second semester senior, we were planning graduation, a celebratory trip and life after that.

+ My daughter who had lived in DC for 4 years moved back to New York on March 8th excited to start a new job on March 16th.. and a whole new life.

+ And my husband was working from home that day as his company mandated every Thursday was work from home day so that they could test their technology to ensure it supported any type of catastrophe. Spidey Sense?

+ And me? We kicked off our major Back-to-School sale that morning and I was preparing for a month of work travel. Who had the last laugh on that?

And then the emails started. One by one. “College is closed until April 7th.” “Your starting your job on Monday but remotely.” “Come into the office tomorrow, pack up everything you need as you will be remote indefinitely.” And a million more like those.

Now I know I had it very good. And still do. So by no means am I complaining. And I don’t want to take up unnecessary space here telling you “my” story. I want this post to be about YOURS. The thousands of parents, students and even teachers who showed up on Order Out Of Chaos’ doorstep for guidance, support, resources, products and coaching. We are humbled and honored that you chose and continue to choose us to go on this journey WITH you. You have forced us (in a good way) to stretch our thinking, be more creative in our products and programs, make necessary changes to our business, listen more effectively to your wants and needs and showcase our “Give To Get” mantra like never before. I can honestly say I’ve learned more this year about how to serve our community and for that I am beyond grateful.

I believe we are forever changed. And because of that it’s time to retire what I’ve been describing as the “NOW NORMAL.” Who am I kidding? It’s just plain and simple the “NORMAL.” No matter what that looks like for you, we’re here to be of service.
